Durant; Burial at Oak Grove
Mrs. Anna Wood, 71 years, 11 months and 16 days of age, died Sunday in Durant, Okla., and the body was brought to Denton to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Brewer. Funeral services and burial were held at Oak Grove cemetery Monday afternoon, with Rev. Mr. Davis of Caddo, Ok., in charge.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband, W. T. (s/b W. P.) Wood, and the following children: Mrs. Brewer of Denton, Barney, Walter and Sam Wood of Caddo, Ok., and J. W. Wood of Oklahoma City. The family had lived in Denton County for many years, but recently she had been living with relatives in Oklahoma. Winfred Leo Hamilton was born January 28, 1932 in Cedar Glades, Arkansas to James and Mary Ellen (Heron) Hamilton and passed from this life August 6, 2010 at the age of 78.
Leo dedicated over 40 years of his life to his true passion, coaching baseball. In that time, he coached hundreds of kids and finished with over 1,000 wins to his name. He was never seen without his Mack Truck hat. When he was not coaching, he traveled all over the state and region just to sit in the stands and watch baseball. He also enjoyed his morning coffee with his close friends, a daily ritual.
Leo is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Deanna Jane (Truby) Hamilton; his daughters, Jerinda Davis and Markesa Hamilton; his sons Michael and Richard McCormick; his daughter-in-laws Gail and Kathleen McCormick; his sisters, Dorceal Montgomery, Sue Gentry and Dean Harrell; his brothers, Delmer Hamilton and James ?Olen? Hamilton; and his five grandchildren.
Leo will lie in state 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2010 with family visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and a funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010?all at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Lillian Briscoe Nanney, age 94, of Arlington Street, Forest City, died, Sunday, December 2, 2018, at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain. A native of Rutherford County she was a daughter of the late George Willie and Susan Briscoe; she retired from Mastercraft as an accounts receivable manager. Lillian was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Briscoe and two sisters, Fern Culbreth and Virginia Womack.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Nanney and his wife Sandra of Forest City, Scott Nanney and his wife Susan of Kings Mountain, a grandson, Brent Huss and his wife Melissa, a granddaughter Jennifer Huss, great grandchildren, Austin, Garrett, and Seth Huss and Jenna Schwartz, and Annaleigh Morgan.
Graveside services will be held at 3PM in the Cool Springs Cemetery, Wednesday, December 5, with the Reverend Pat Jobe officiating. Visitation will follow at the grave. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 193 Callahan Koon Rd #132, Spindale, NC 28160.
